For my first “real” blog, I’m very proud of myself for NOT writing about the Red Sox as their in the midst of a wild card hunt. I’m going to give you a rundown of all my nicknames I’ve ever received in my lifetime. For some reason, I feel as if no one in the history of man-kind has more nicknames than me. I’m probably wrong on that, but we’ll go with it. Below will be the nickname and a little description next to it of how I received it:

Pat – Technically a nickname because my full name is “Patrick”.

Plunc – This may be the most used one. Trying to keep this story short, I was at a friends house in 3rdish grade and I was making an AIM account (R.I.P). For the record and the purposes of this blog post, I also have a passion for North Carolina Basketball, or UNC. So I wanted to make my name “unckid505”. But then my friend, Brian, goes, “Dude, you gotta put something in your name so people know it’s you.” So I obliged and put a “pl” in their to make it “plunckid505”. One of the first people I messaged was my brother’s best friend, Chubs, and he instantly texted my brother, Zach, “Who the hell is this ‘plunc’ kid?” Ever since that day, Plunc has been a staple.

Pluncster – Has formed off of the Plunc nickname. Mainly my dad uses it.

P – College roommates called me this often.

PL – Comes from my girlfriend’s college roommates. I don’t know which one of them started it but they enjoy calling me by my initials.

Douce – The is another widely used one. Simply coming from my last name and taking the “L” and “A” out of it.

LaDoushe – I told you guys I would try to keep it clean, but people decide to call me this. Its got to be my least favorite one because lets face it, who wants to be called a doushe?

Douce-Man – Love this one. My college baseball teammates came up with it randomly.

Patty Pop-Pop – This one came from an internship I did last summer. I was told to make some popcorn for the office, I walked in the door from the kitchen with about 7 boxes of popcorn for everyone, and the GM shouted out “Patty Pop-Pop”. It stuck the rest of the summer.

P-Sizzle – Playing nerf basketball with my brother’s friends in my basement years ago, we were having a three-point contest. I hit about 3 shots in a row, I guess unexpectedly, and one of my brother’s friends says, “Alright P-Sizzle.” It stuck ever so slightly.

Leduca – A former baseball coach of mine thought I looked and played like former Mets’ catcher Paul Leduca.

G-Mac – I loved Gerry MacNamara, a Syracuse University basketball player, when I was younger. So I would always wear his jersey to basketball camps and a former basketball coach of mine called me “G-Mac” constantly.

Feel free to call me any of these besides the one I said I didn’t enjoy. I know I’m missing some and will update this blog if I think of any others.

-Pat LaDouce
